Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nutritionist II to join our team at the Vermont Department of Health. As a key member of our public health team, you will play a critical role in providing nutritional counseling and breastfeeding support to individuals enrolled in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide culturally competent nutritional counseling and breastfeeding support to WIC clients
  • Develop and implement public health interventions to address nutrition-related health disparities
  • Collaborate with maternal and child health partners to promote healthy behaviors and outcomes
  • Participate in outcomes-based planning and evaluation of nutrition services
  • Engage in community outreach and education to promote healthy eating habits and lifestyles
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, nutritional sciences, or related field
  • Three years of professional experience in public health nutrition or community health nutrition
  • Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (R.D./R.D.N) certification preferred
  • Experience providing nutrition education and counseling to diverse populations
  • Strong assessment and evaluation skills, with ability to implement public health interventions
