Responsibilities

Arrangements Coordination

  • Conducts removals or transfers in accordance with company protocols, ensuring respectful care for the deceased and maintaining accurate records in proprietary systems.
  • Welcomes bereaved families and guides them to the consultation area, facilitating the Arrangements Conference to assess their needs and desired outcomes. Discusses available insurance options and promotes various services and products, including catering and memorial items.
  • Transfers the Arrangements Conference to the Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor for the presentation of cemetery options, pricing, and contract finalization. In the absence of an FSA/FSC, may assume their responsibilities.
  • Reviews and approves any changes to merchandise and service contracts.

Service Direction

  • Confirms authorization for service arrangements and acts as Master of Ceremonies for visitations, funerals, or graveside services, ensuring a professional and compassionate atmosphere in line with company standards.
  • Conducts visual inspections of the deceased, adjusting casket presentation and attire as necessary, and communicates any concerns to the preparation team.
  • Engages with families to fulfill their requests and identifies opportunities for pre-need services.

Event Management

  • Handles various event planning tasks, including resource allocation and ordering of music, flowers, or catering to meet arrangement requests. Produces memorial products such as photo scans and online tributes, and prepares the event space before and after services.
  • May undertake various attendant roles, including parking lot management, driving, ushering, or serving as a pallbearer.
  • Represents the company at community or charitable events to promote services.

  • Proactively discusses assignments and seeks guidance from management, volunteering for additional tasks when workload permits.
  • Adapts effectively to new work structures and processes, taking on additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Licenses

  • Graduated from an accredited mortuary science program.
  • Possesses a current Funeral Director license in the practicing state.
  • Holds a valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record for operating company vehicles.

Experience

  • Previous experience in the funeral industry is preferred.

  • Strong skills in MS Office applications.

Work Environment

  • Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors, accommodating all seasons and weather conditions.
  • Professional business attire is required when interacting with families.
  • Physical demands include prolonged periods of sitting or standing, climbing stairs, and manual dexterity for paperwork and technology use.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 150 pounds on various surfaces.
  • Flexibility in availability is essential, as services may occur outside of standard business hours.
