Clinical Nurse Specialist

Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in delivering personalized patient care by enhancing and restoring health through the nursing process. This involves collaborating with physicians and a multidisciplinary team, providing both physical and emotional support to patients and their families, and overseeing the activities of assigned team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on the patient's immediate health status and needs, while collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications and perform treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Implement therapeutic nursing interventions tailored to the age and cultural background of patients, in accordance with their individualized care plans.
- Deliver customized education to patients and their families, ensuring they understand their care and treatment options.
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient conditions, assessment results, and responses to interventions, tracking progress towards health goals.
- Initiate emergency procedures as necessary, adhering to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and provide care in a respectful, non-discriminatory manner, honoring the diversity and rights of patients and their families.
- Monitor and interpret patient symptoms, effectively communicating findings to healthcare providers during shift transitions.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution (NLNAC or CCNE) is required; Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Prior experience in an acute care environment is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) for patient care coordination.
- Excellent verbal communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work effectively with others to enhance quality of care and address patient needs.
- Current RN licensure in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Nursing or Compact State Licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 30 days of hire, with recertification every two years.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
