In the position of Mechanical Coordinator/EIT, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing analyses to create design alternatives and aiding in the preparation of cost assessments and specifications.
  • Generating mechanical design calculations that adhere to industry standards.
  • Creating and reviewing plan sheets and detailed drawings.
  • Assisting in the formulation of technical specifications.
  • Supporting the development of construction cost estimates.
  • Engaging in technical writing for reports and memorandums.
  • Preparing presentations related to design and alternatives analysis.
  • Coordinating with various disciplines (e.g., electrical, structural, civil) on multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Conducting mechanical and general field inspections and site visits.
  • Reviewing construction submittals, including shop drawings and operation & maintenance manuals.
  • Executing routine engineering tasks that require the application of established techniques and procedures.
  • Providing CAD support as needed.
  • Completing projects with defined objectives and limited variables.
  • Working independently on small to mid-sized projects under senior guidance.
  • Committing to HDR's quality culture and adhering to established Quality Management Systems.
  • Upholding HDR's safety culture and following safety protocols.
  • Learning from and assisting senior engineers on various projects.
  • Asking questions to clarify tasks and responsibilities.
  • Providing direction to clerical and technical staff as necessary.
  • Demonstrating respect for colleagues and clients.
  • Performing additional duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, or structural engineering, with a focus on mechanical systems for water resource projects, particularly dam infrastructure.
  • EIT certification (Passed the FE Exam). Candidates without EIT will hold the title of "Coordinator" and are expected to obtain EIT for career advancement.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Experience with 2D AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software (Autodesk Inventor is advantageous).
  • Proactive approach, including the willingness to ask clarifying questions.
  • Effective communication skills with a diverse range of individuals, both internally and externally.
  • Willingness to learn from others, in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Openness to domestic travel, up to 10% of the time.
  • A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture.
  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • Experience in design and machining.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with industry design codes and guidelines (e.g., USACE EM's, USBR Design Standards, CMAA, etc.).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software.
