About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at 120 Degreez MEP Engineering. As a key member of our MEP engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design, analysis, and implementation of MEP systems for complex and high-profile projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead MEP Design and Development: Oversee the design and development of mechanical systems for building projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and client specifications.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Calculations and Analysis: Conduct thorough calculations and analysis related to load calculations, design, layouts, and distribution systems.
  • Prepare Detailed MEP Design Packages: Oversee the preparation of detailed MEP design packages, including plans, specifications, and construction documents, and ensure timely delivery of project deliverables.
  • Review and Approve Contractor Submittals: Review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs to verify compliance with design intent and applicable regulations.
  • Provide Technical Guidance and Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters, fostering their professional growth and development within the firm.
  • Coordinate with Project Teams: Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other engineers, actively engaging in project meetings and client interactions to effectively communicate technical information and ensure project success.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with project teams, architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to coordinate MEP systems with overall building designs and resolve interdisciplinary conflicts.
  • Conduct Site Visits and Inspections: Conduct site visits and inspections as needed to assess construction progress, address technical issues, and ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay Updated on Emerging Technologies: Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in MEP engineering, and apply this knowledge to enhance project performance and client satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution, or in a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in MEP engineering, with a proven track record of successfully leading complex projects from concept to completion.
  • Licensure: PE license acquired or willingness to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe is required.
  • Software Skills: Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering software tools for design and drafting.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • California Building Codes and Regulations: Thorough understanding of California building codes, standards, and regulations applicable to MEP systems.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients and stakeholders.
  • Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to mentor and motivate junior staff and inspire a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Self-Motivation and Desire to Learn: Self-motivated with a desire to learn and grow professionally in the field of MEP engineering.
