Certified Surgical Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain a sterile field for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Assist surgeons and other medical staff during procedures, providing support and maintaining a safe and efficient operating environment.
- Monitor and maintain aseptic technique, ensuring all infection control measures are met and all sterilization standards are adhered to.
- Participate in turnover activities and room setup for each surgical procedure, including connection of suction, electrical cords, power cables, and electrocautery.
- Assist with instrument processing and sterilization, ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
- Perform sponge, sharp, and instrument counts with the RN according to policy, taking corrective action when counts are incorrect.
- Ensure appropriate and safe use of equipment and instrumentation prior to, during, and post-operatively.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Surgical Technologist or in a clinical setting, required.
- Successful completion from a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist, and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist (CST) credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), required.
- Ability to function effectively in emergency situations.
