Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Banquet Cook III to join our culinary team at Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to order, ensuring high-quality dishes are served promptly to our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of food cooked to order, prepping food for service, and adhering to established standardized recipes.
  • Set up and organize work areas with necessary supplies and equipment, receiving, inspecting, and rotating food products to ensure freshness and quality.
  • Prepare and store raw food products prior to cooking, following standardized recipes and portion control guidelines to minimize waste.
  • Plate foods according to established plating/presentation guidelines, monitoring finished products waiting for server pick-up to ensure timely service.
  • Ensure a quality product is prepared and served in a timely manner, adhering to Governmental Food Sanitation Standards at all times.
  • Monitor refrigeration and holding temperatures, clean and sanitize work surfaces, and wash hands frequently.
  • Use knives, slicers, mixers, choppers, grinders, and other equipment safely and according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Notify supervisors of equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately and provide timely notification of need for clean dishes, pots, pans, etc.
  • Clean and break down work areas, returning unused ingredients to proper storage at the end of the shift, and ensure all closing side work is complete, cooking equipment is turned off, and the kitchen is secure.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; one year of cooking experience in an upscale, high-volume hotel or freestanding restaurant or post-secondary culinary training/certification as a Cook from a recognized culinary training school.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Food Service Sanitation Standards and standard kitchen equipment and its use.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and carry up to 35 pounds, read, write, and speak English, and work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
