About the Role

Carnegie Mellon University is a world-renowned institution that fosters innovation and excellence in education and research. We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Development to join our team and contribute to the university's mission of advancing knowledge and improving society.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects with a rated capacity of $50,000+ to support the university's development goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage with prospects and donors, including personal visits, direct mail, phone, and volunteer utilization.
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of major gift prospects, determining ongoing relationship activities and recommending specific purpose and level of gift.
  • Collaborate with faculty, deans, and other advancement colleagues to advance the university's development efforts.
  • Track prospect outreach and relationship building through various databases and systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of successful fundraising experience, preferably in higher education, including direct solicitation of five and six-figure gifts from individuals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and provide updates to supervisor and related stakeholders.
