As a key member of our team, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
Design and Development (60% of time):
- Crafting underground electrical line designs by generating technical specifications, performing calculations, and producing detailed drawings.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including NESC, NEC, and RUS standards.
- Adhering to client-specific standards and Mott MacDonald's project protocols.
- Collaborating with Engineering Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Supervisors to deliver tailored project outputs, including calculations, specifications, drawings, and comprehensive reports.
- Utilizing Cyme software and vendor documentation for underground cable modeling.
- Formulating technical specifications for cable systems and transmission line construction.
- Developing comprehensive drawing packages that support design efforts, including route plans, trench cross-sections, duct bank designs, key maps, and grounding schematics.
- Preparing capital and operational expenditure estimates.
- Reviewing Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and crafting proposals that encompass scope of work, budget estimates, and timelines.
- Issuing Power Cable RFPs, assisting in bid evaluations, and facilitating coordination between cable manufacturers and Mott MacDonald.
Team Leadership (20% of time):
- Leading a specialized team of junior engineers and designers to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
- Guaranteeing that engineering work adheres to Mott MacDonald's quality and compliance standards.
- Effectively planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring personal work activities.
- Producing thorough and precise technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
Project Management (20% of time):
- Managing project correspondence and data to enhance job-related engineering knowledge and performance.
- Maintaining accurate records and files.
- Assessing project design scope and required effort.
- Verifying completion of design reviews and addressing any reviewer comments or issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineering Certification (PE) or the ability to obtain it within 2 years.
