Overview

MPOWERHealth is in search of a proficient Surgical First Assistant to enhance our surgical team.

This role is designed for a committed professional with operating room experience and holds one of the following qualifications: PA, NP/RNFA, or LSA. As a Surgical First Assistant, you will be integral to the success of surgical operations. This position is strictly OR-focused, with no outpatient or rounding duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surgical Assistance: Your primary role will be to deliver first assist support during surgical procedures. This position is strictly OR-focused, with no outpatient or rounding duties.
  • Pre-operative Coordination: Validate surgical cases, engage with patients, clarify procedures, gather essential documentation, and liaise with OR personnel.
  • Intraoperative Support: Aid in patient positioning, uphold a sterile environment, anticipate the needs of the surgeon, and collaborate with the OR team.
  • Post-operative Care: Assist with patient transfers, facilitate PACU handover, and complete required documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in clinical and operational initiatives, including education, training, and process enhancement.
  • Skill Development: Show eagerness to learn new surgical specialties and broaden your skill set.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of surgical assisting experience.
  • Experience in robotics gynecology, robotics urology, and obstetrics is essential.
  • Background in orthopedics and spine is advantageous.

Education/Training:

  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office and EMR systems.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Master's Degree program for Physician Assistant Studies for PAs, or a Master/Doctoral Degree Program in Nurse Practitioner Studies for NPs. Nurse Practitioners should possess their CNOR or RNFA.
  • Must hold a current state license for practice and PAs must have National Commissioned Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Physical Requirements:

Able to perform all essential functions with or without accommodations, including but not limited to:

  • Capability to lift, sit, stand, or squat
  • Constant visual, auditory, and verbal communication
  • Frequent lifting of 20+ lbs., alongside bending, reaching, standing, walking, and kneeling.
