Job Title: Project Engineer Intern

Cruz Construction, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer Intern to join our team. As a Project Engineer Intern, you will assist in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance functions on projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and designing systems and structures, and draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects.
  • Read and review project blueprints and structural specifications to determine dimensions of structure and material requirements.
  • Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile, and component specifications, and material quantities, using calculator or computer.
  • Assist in project site inspections to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety and sanitation standards.
  • Participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction.
  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
  • Help prepare or present reports, bid proposals, deeds, environmental impact statements, and property and right-of-way descriptions.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding design, construction, or project modifications and structural repairs to management and workers, as appropriate.
  • Analyze proposed site factors and design maps, graphs, tracings, and diagrams to illustrate findings.
  • Test soils and materials to determine the adequacy, strength, and necessary quantity.
  • Document project activities and data, as required.
  • Confer with supervisor to determine project details.
  • Inspect project site and evaluate contractor work to detect design malfunctions and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes.
  • Plan and conduct field surveys to locate new sites and analyze details of project sites.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in a ABET (Accredited Engineering University).
  • Must possess a valid state driver license.
  • One or two year's construction-related field experience or two or more years training in engineering or related field.
Working Conditions:

The Project Engineer Intern will be exposed to inclement weather, extreme cold, extreme heat, wet and/or humid conditions, noise, vibration, and atmospheric conditions. The incumbent will also be at risk of moving mechanical parts, electric shock, high, exposed places, radiant energy, explosives, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
