Job Title: Senior Civil Engineer - Water and Wastewater Projects

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in Alaska. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing, managing, and overseeing the construction of water and wastewater systems in rural and cold climate regions.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and provide design services for the construction of complex sanitation and health facility projects in rural communities.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, tribal, state, and federal rules, regulations, and permits.
  • Review service contract deliverables and ensure intermittent and final inspection of facilities.
  • Provide technical support to field staff to facilitate construction and approve field design changes.
  • Consult with regional health organizations regarding repair and upgrades of facilities.
  • Provide technical assistance for engineering evaluations of health and sanitation facilities.
  • Advise facility supervisors and operators on technical problems.
  • Oversee program activities, coordinate engineering design projects with project managers, engineers, technical staff, regional and federal authorities, and community groups.
  • Investigate sites, analyze samples, and oversee technical staff.
  • Design, develop, and produce construction drawings and documents, ensuring designs meet program requirements.
  • Delegate components to technical staff and collaborate with specialists to produce construction documents.
  • Approve final designs and incorporate project components.
  • Determine design project budgets, prepare, and check calculations for engineering designs.
  • Oversee creation of project plan sets and design sheets, approving and sealing plans, studies, and final drawings.
  • Manage and schedule technical staff, develop goals and priorities, assign tasks and projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited university or college program.
  • At least 8 years of civil or environmental engineering experience, including a minimum of 4 years of Alaska or cold climate region engineering experience, 6 years of design experience, and 2 years of small community systems experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably from Alaska, but candidates from other states will be considered as well.
  • Ability to travel frequently within Alaska in small, fixed-wing aircraft.
