Role Summary

The Electrical Systems Technician will report to a Superintendent or an appointed representative to execute assigned duties in accordance with company standards and procedures, aiding in the fulfillment of project goals and objectives. This role encompasses the installation, modification, enhancement, and/or repair of electrical systems, devices, and associated materials within the electrical construction industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience in commercial or industrial electrical construction.
  • Ability to meet or exceed productivity benchmarks.
  • Proven track record in the installation of conduit, wiring, and cabling systems.
  • Proficiency in setting up and completing panels, switchboards, and other electrical apparatus.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to various job sites.
  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with Ace Electric's Safety Protocols.
  • Execute electrical installations in accordance with Ace Electric Standards while adhering to project blueprints and specifications.
  • Coordinate installation efforts with other construction trades.
  • Apply logic and reasoning for effective and precise mathematical operations.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of construction drawings and details, with the ability to visualize the represented three-dimensional structure.
  • Organize materials, tools, and equipment efficiently.
  • Oversee the work of Electrician Helpers/Apprentices as assigned by the Superintendent or their representative.
  • Accurately install conduit, wiring, pre-fabricated assemblies, panel boards, lighting fixtures, devices, and other equipment as directed by the Superintendent or designated individual.
  • Follow construction drawings and other documentation to ensure concealed wiring installation prior to the application of wall, ceiling, and floor coverings.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, ream, and install conduit using appropriate tools such as hacksaws, band saws, pipe threaders, and conduit benders.
  • Pull and terminate branch and feeder conductors.
  • Connect wiring to lighting fixtures, motors, panels, devices, and other electrical equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Utilize testing equipment to check voltage, amperage, and circuit wiring continuity to ensure component safety and compatibility.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty circuits, equipment, or systems.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately.

Qualifications

  • License: Valid state driver's license as required for job conditions or by the company.
  • Certifications: Relevant federal, state, and local certifications as mandated by job conditions or by the company.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Ideally a minimum of 6 years' electrical experience.
  • OSHA Construction Outreach Training - 10 Hour.

Work Environment

  • Work in various weather conditions; heat, cold, rain, or snow, depending on job location and season.
  • Ability to utilize construction site sanitary facilities.
  • Employees must have necessary personal tools readily available at all times.
  • Work from various types of ladders and relocate them independently, ensuring personal weight with tools does not exceed the ladder's rated capacity.
  • Perform tasks at different heights, up to 90 feet from ladders, scaffolds, aerial work platforms, catwalks, and other secured work areas.
  • Work in confined spaces such as switchgear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, and crawl spaces.
  • Adhere to all required personal protective equipment protocols.
  • Willingness to work 40 hours per week with potential for overtime. Night shifts, weekends, and out-of-town assignments may be required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to identify colors of wire and other items as necessary.
  • Comprehend construction drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Bend conduit using hand tools.
  • Safely operate necessary power tools.
  • Operate construction equipment safely.
  • Capable of trench digging using hand or power tools.
  • Understand and implement safe work procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Handbook.
  • Utilize various tools as required, including cable cutters and hammer drills.
  • Drive company vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.
  • Read and interpret maps, manuals, and instructions.
  • Possess good hearing and vision.
  • Capable of physical tasks such as climbing ladders and lifting objects.
  • Tolerant of prolonged standing and movement on foot.
  • Perform tasks involving repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Secure tools and materials to complete assigned work.
