Pay Grade/Pay Range: 52 Hourly (non-exempt) - Minimum - $9.80 Midpoint - $12.25
Normal Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, with occasional weekends and extended hours.
Job Overview: The Sales Associate plays a crucial role in supporting various retail functions within an assigned area, which may include textbooks, general merchandise, art supplies, and computer supplies. Responsibilities encompass receiving, unpacking, restocking, pricing, shelving, and selling merchandise while ensuring that products are well-stocked and presented attractively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the cash register and manage transactions efficiently.
- Respond to customer inquiries via telephone, web, or in-person.
- Assist with merchandising and preparation for store events.
- Contribute to maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Participate in the annual physical inventory and perform various other duties as assigned.
Additional Department Insights: This role primarily focuses on cashiering duties and support for the web/mail order department.
Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of six months of experience in a hospitality, sales, or customer service environment. Candidates must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the position, which includes frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds. Strong customer service skills are essential for effective communication with faculty, staff, students, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a retail environment with a strong emphasis on customer service is preferred.
