Position Summary: We are currently seeking a qualified Formulation Biologist to join the Vaccine Production Program at the National Institutes of Health. This role is essential for executing and coordinating formulation and stability studies, assisting in the development of assays for vaccine and biotherapeutic characterization, and managing laboratory instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct formulation and stability studies utilizing standard laboratory techniques and analytical methods.
  • Generate and analyze samples, ensuring the precision and reliability of data.
  • Compile and interpret data to support assay development for vaccine and biotherapeutic characterization.
  • Draft and review technical reports and protocols that document formulation, stability, and method development studies.
  • Present findings in departmental meetings and small group discussions.
  • Independently execute experiments and data analysis while coordinating formulation and stability studies.
  • Oversee external service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation to ensure operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in protein analytics, formulation, or a similar area.
  • Familiarity with protein biochemistry sample handling and analysis techniques, including buffer preparation, dialysis, and SDS-PAGE.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software such as Excel, Prism, and SigmaPlot.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or equivalent software suites.
  • Understanding of the structural properties of proteins.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as UV-visible spectroscopy, fluorescence, Circular Dichroism, IR spectroscopy, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, and particle characterization methods.
  • Ability to work independently while managing time effectively.
