Job Overview

As an HR and Benefits Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing various aspects of employee benefits and human resources operations, ensuring a supportive and engaging workplace environment. This role demands a meticulous individual with a solid grasp of HR policies, benefits management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main contact for employee inquiries regarding benefits, addressing concerns, and offering assistance.
  • Manage FMLA, short-term and long-term leave, and Cobra administration.
  • Support the administration of Workers' Compensation.
  • Engage in company-wide HR projects and initiatives.
  • Execute routine tasks essential for administering human resource programs, including compensation, leave management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, performance assessments, and workplace safety.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; regularly review policies to maintain compliance.
  • Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory updates, and advancements in human resources and employment law.
  • Assist in the recruitment process, including interviewing and facilitating the hiring of qualified candidates; collaborate with department heads to identify necessary skills and competencies for open roles.
  • Conduct background checks and verify employment eligibility.
  • Support onboarding and orientation processes, including benefits presentations as needed.
  • Undertake additional duties and special projects as directed by the HR Director.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in understanding, reading, and writing Spanish.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively when necessary.
  • Commitment to integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough understanding of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • An associate degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of benefits administration and leave management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of human resources methodologies and best practices.
  • Two to five years of experience in human resources is preferred.
  • SHRM-CP certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands outlined here represent those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While executing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are expected. The employee frequently needs to stand, walk, use hands for various tasks, and reach with hands and arms. Additionally, the employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 15 pounds. This position requires specific vision capabilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time role with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
