Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at Lamar CISD. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our students and contribute to the success of our school community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency care for students who are ill or injured, using first aid procedures and obtaining necessary assistance when required.
  • Assist with the management of students who have health problems in the school setting, assessing their needs and making referrals for medical treatment as necessary.
  • Conduct health appraisals, including vision, hearing, and other health screenings, and make referrals for medical treatment when necessary.
  • Dispense medication according to law and district policy.
  • Promote health education, both individually and in the classroom, and act as a resource to teachers to promote optimum health.
  • Perform health screening and complete forms on students being referred or reevaluated for Special Education Services.
  • Provide health counseling for students with health problems.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.
  • Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening and trained in scoliosis screening.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program.
Working Conditions

The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, teachers, and parents. The ability to concentrate, communicate effectively, and maintain emotional control under stress is essential. The School Nurse will also be required to lift and carry light objects, stand, walk, and climb stairs.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position will be based on the Teacher's Salary Schedule. The District offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement plans.
