We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at Lamar CISD. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to students, promoting health education, and collaborating with teachers and parents to ensure the well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide emergency care and first aid to students as needed.
- Assess and manage students with health problems, including referrals for medical treatment and follow-up.
- Dispense medication according to law and district policy.
- Plan and organize health education programs for students, including staff inservice training.
- Perform health screenings and complete forms for students referred for Special Education Services.
- Provide health counseling for students with health problems.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.
- Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening and trained in scoliosis screening.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid Texas driver's license.
- Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program.
The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, teachers, and parents. The successful candidate must be able to concentrate, communicate effectively, and maintain emotional control under stress. The position requires light lifting and carrying, sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and pushing. The School Nurse may be required to travel occasionally within the district.
Salary and Benefits:The salary for this position will be based on the Teacher's Salary Schedule. The Lamar CISD offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement plans.
