Position: Nurse Practitioner

The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University is in search of a Nurse Practitioner to oversee the daily clinical and operational functions at the PepsiCo Stone Mountain Plant. This role will report directly to the East Regional Coordinator for the PBC/JHU partnership and will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Division Administrator.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver on-site medical services for forty (40) hours weekly at the PepsiCo clinic located in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
  • Assess and manage minor work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications according to established standing orders for employees with minor health concerns.
  • Conduct on-site specimen and laboratory collection for employees with lab orders from their primary care providers.
  • Perform urine drug screenings and breath alcohol tests in compliance with company protocols.
  • Evaluate and provide onsite assessments for conditions such as strep throat, urinary tract infections, influenza, and blood sugar abnormalities.
  • Support case management for both work-related and non-work-related health issues to minimize absenteeism.
  • Facilitate second opinions for employees absent due to workers' compensation or disability, following company guidelines.
  • Organize and implement the annual seasonal influenza vaccination program.
  • Plan and conduct monthly health education seminars and wellness initiatives.
  • Provide patient education on various health topics, medications, and treatment options.
  • Collaborate with patients and their healthcare providers to ensure early diagnosis and effective management of health conditions.

Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update standardized procedures, protocols, and standing orders as necessary.
  • Ensure adequate clinical supplies are available.
  • Maintain compliance with the Georgia Department of Health/CLIA for on-site lab testing.
  • Keep accurate patient medical records.

Collaboration with Benefits and Safety Teams:
  • Coordinate health and wellness events and initiatives.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims effectively.
  • Expand clinic services and outreach.
  • Provide crisis management and intervention as needed.
  • Offer general medical guidance to the Human Resources and Safety/Risk Management departments.
  • Ensure prompt and appropriate clinical care for all patients in line with established protocols and professional standards.
  • Develop partnerships with local clinical providers for backup care.
  • Ensure timely problem resolution and follow-up with employees as required.
  • Maintain a clean and welcoming clinic environment.
  • Exhibit professionalism to achieve organizational goals.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strong analytical skills to assess patient health status and implement appropriate care.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for patient interaction, education, and counseling.
  • Comprehensive understanding of outpatient adult medicine, patient care protocols, and testing procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing; valid Registered Nurse license and certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Registered/licensed by the State of Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • National Board Certification.
  • Relevant experience in adult medicine.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least twelve months of relevant experience in adult medicine.
  • Experience in Occupational Medicine, Workers' Compensation, and DOT examinations.
  • DOT Medical Examiner certification preferred.
  • Certification as a Urine Drug Screen Collector preferred.
  • Certification as a Breath Alcohol Technician preferred.
  • Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required. Maintenance of current licensure and certification is necessary throughout employment. Completion of the JHH credentialing process is required prior to the start date.

Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. Ability to reach by extending hands or arms in any direction. Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects. Capability to move standard equipment within a clinical environment.
