Position: Nurse Practitioner
The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University is in search of a Nurse Practitioner to oversee the daily clinical and operational functions at a designated facility. This role will report to the East Regional Coordinator and collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Division Administrator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver on-site medical services for forty (40) hours each week.
- Assess and manage minor work-related and non-work-related health issues.
- Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications following established protocols.
- Conduct specimen/lab collection for employees with orders from their primary care providers.
- Perform drug screenings and alcohol testing as per company guidelines.
- Evaluate and provide care for conditions such as strep throat, urinary tract infections, and flu.
- Support case management for various health conditions to minimize absenteeism.
- Facilitate second opinions for employees on workers' compensation or disability leave.
- Organize annual flu vaccination campaigns.
- Plan and conduct monthly health education sessions and wellness activities.
- Provide patient education regarding health issues, medications, and treatment options.
- Collaborate with patients and their healthcare providers for effective management of health concerns.
- Update and maintain clinical protocols and standing orders.
- Ensure availability of clinical supplies.
- Maintain compliance with health department regulations for lab testing.
- Keep accurate patient medical records.
- Coordinate health and wellness initiatives.
- Manage workers' compensation claims effectively.
- Expand clinic services and outreach.
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- Offer medical guidance to HR and Safety departments.
- Ensure timely and appropriate clinical care in accordance with established protocols and standards.
- Build relationships with local healthcare providers for additional support.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming clinic environment.
- Exhibit professionalism to achieve departmental goals.
- Ensure prompt resolution of employee health concerns.
- Strong analytical skills to assess patient health and implement care plans.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for patient interaction and education.
- Comprehensive knowledge of outpatient adult medicine and medical protocols.
- Master's Degree in Nursing; valid Registered Nurse license and Nurse Practitioner certification.
- Registered with the State Board of Nursing.
- National Board Certification.
- Experience in adult medicine.
- At least twelve months of relevant experience in adult medicine.
- Experience in Occupational Medicine and Workers' Compensation.
- Certification as a DOT Medical Examiner is a plus.
- Certification as a Urine Drug Screen Collector and Breath Alcohol Technician preferred.
- Current CPR certification from a recognized organization required.
- Completion of the credentialing process is necessary prior to employment.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; manual dexterity for handling clinical equipment.
