Responsibilities

As a Research Physicist, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing custom optical assemblies for compact sensor designs
  • Developing and executing proof-of-concept experiments in AMO laboratories
  • Supporting sensor system design and integration, including mechanical, firmware, and software components
  • Troubleshooting sensor and system issues for operation in non-laboratory environments
  • Developing and implementing algorithms for sensor data analysis
  • Field testing and measurement, with potential travel required
  • Collaborating with leading academic partners

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess a PhD in Applied Physics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with post-degree experience preferred. U.S. Citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance is necessary.

Desired Skills and Experience

We are seeking candidates with expertise in optically pumped magnetometry, Rydberg-atom systems, and advanced optical systems. Strong numerical and analytical modeling skills, as well as experience with electromagnetics and signal processing, are highly desirable. Additionally, a strong background in precision measurements, atom-photon interactions, and physics of atom-based vapor and vacuum cells is essential.

Intangibles

We value strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work in a team environment, self-motivation, and a results-oriented approach are also essential. If you are interested in multiple technical areas and have a passion for innovation, we encourage you to apply.
