Job Title: Research Physicist - Quantum Sensing

SRI International is a leading research institute dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and solving complex problems. We are seeking a highly skilled Research Physicist to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge quantum sensing technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement state-of-the-art optically pumped magnetometers and other quantum sensing systems
  • Develop and execute proof-of-concept experiments and precision measurements
  • Collaborate with a team of applied physicists and engineers to advance quantum sensing research and applications
  • Support the design and implementation of custom optical assemblies for compact sensor designs
  • Perform detailed electromagnetic simulation and analysis
  • Interface with leading academic partners and industry experts
Qualifications:
  • PhD in Applied Physics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in optically pumped magnetometry or Rydberg-atom systems
  • Advanced optical systems and/or coherent optical systems
  • Strong numerical and analytical modeling skills (e.g. Python, MATLAB, COMSOL)
  • Solid intuition with electromagnetics; signal processing expertise is a benefit
