Job Overview

Your expertise in experimental Atomic-Molecular-Optical (AMO) Physics and experience in neutral-atom quantum sensors will be invaluable in driving our research forward.

Responsibilities

As a Research Physicist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing custom optical assemblies for compact sensor designs
  • Executing proof-of-concept, precision measurements in laboratory experiments
  • Supporting sensor system design and integration (mechanical, firmware, software)
  • Troubleshooting sensor and system issues for operation in non-laboratory environments
  • Developing and implementing algorithms for sensor applications
  • Field testing and measurement, with potential travel required
  • Collaborating with leading academic partners


Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess a PhD in Applied Physics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field, with post-degree experience a plus. U.S. Citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance is necessary. Desired skills and experience include:

  • Experience in optically pumped magnetometry or Rydberg-atom systems
  • Advanced optical systems and/or coherent optical systems
  • Strong numerical and analytical modeling skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, COMSOL)
  • Solid intuition with electromagnetics; signal processing expertise is a benefit
  • Precision measurements
  • Atom-photon interactions
  • Physics of atom-based vapor and vacuum cells
