Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Vascular Sonographer to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Vascular Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing a comprehensive array of sophisticated abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and small parts procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and small parts procedures, to provide accurate diagnostic information.
  • Assist physicians during procedures, such as amniocentesis, thoracentesis, biopsies, cath lab procedures, surgery, thrombin injection, and compression for pseudoaneurysm.
  • Document patient history, images, and examination results for analysis and interpretation.
  • Participate in the department's QA program and accreditation process, including attending meetings, inservices, and database input.
  • Ensure a secure and safe patient and work environment, adhering to infection control standards and OSHA guidelines.
  • Provide technical support for the smooth operation of the Ultrasound and Vascular Department, including communicating with other departments and interacting with the Ultrasound/Vascular Coordinator.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest ultrasound developments, professional development, and maintenance of CME's required for registration and training of associates.
Requirements
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 3 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
Education/Experience
  • Associates degree in Allied Health or Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Science preferred.
  • Typically requires 1 year experience in Abdomen and OB/GYN.
  • Typically requires 1 year experience in Vascular exams.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficient skills in abdomen, OB, pelvic, endovaginal, small parts, venous doppler, carotid doppler, and arterial studies preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints.
  • Ability to communicate with patients and respond to patients in a timely manner.
