Job Summary

This position serves as the Deputy Chief, Field Management Staff (FMS), Office of Field Operations (FO), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF). The incumbent is responsible for strategically coordinating the budget, contracts, and forms, administration, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements financial policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Implements new management methods, revisions, or adaptations outlined in directives from ATF and DOJ.
  • Facilitates and supports the managerial and administrative processes and policies of FO, consistent with ATF policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Represents the Division Chief or DADs in executive-level meetings with ATF and other federal agencies.
  • Establishes work priorities, sets standards, develops criteria for evaluation, reviews completed work, evaluates performance, and otherwise performs a full range of technical and administrative supervision.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
  • Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service.
  • This is a non-bargaining unit position.
  • May be able to submit a financial disclosure.
Qualifications

To qualify for a GS-15, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.

Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in the resume.

Specialized Experience
  • Leading and/or supervising analytical duties of assigned financial areas.
  • Formulating financial policies, practices, and/or procedures to manage overall financial management.
  • Managing projects and programs relating to cost analysis and fiscal planning.
  • Communicating orally and in writing.
