The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) is seeking a Senior Accountant to enhance the fiscal and financial stability, accountability, and integrity of the Government of the District of Columbia. This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Human Support Services Cluster (HSSC), Department of Disability Services/Office of Disability Rights (DDS)/(ODR). The incumbent will be responsible for a range of accounting functions associated with the day-to-day fiscal operations, serving as an expert advisor in the planning, development, and implementation of new and existing accounting programs, systems, and processes.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate recordation of agency Fixed/Capital assets in the system
  • Create financial reports
  • Recommend management action when analysis indicates a trend that could lead to an underpayment or overpayment for services provided
  • Develop internal controls which provide alternatives and/or solutions to improve operating program effectiveness and efficiency and resolve complex audit adjustment issues presented by the independent auditors and Office of Inspector General
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have five (5) years of progressive experience performing the related duties and responsibilities such as evaluating accounting operations, processes, and systems; reviewing complex financial transactions and preparing reports; and possessing expert knowledge of accounting and auditing laws, regulations, and policies in order to resolve issues, ensure compliance, and provide recommendations. A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is also required. The candidate must submit an official transcript that verifies a degree in accounting or a related field and 24 semester credit hours in accounting in order to be considered.
