Empirical is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in the Washington, DC area. This senior accounting position offers a fantastic opportunity for advancing your career as a Senior Accountant / Analyst.

This senior role will involve preparing and analyzing financial statements and/or reports, validating appropriate disclosures and developing supplemental content for publication to the federal community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and preparing journal entries and/or other accounting transactions while ensuring general activity is processed in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
  • Preparing quarterly financial statements, footnotes and associated reconciliations
  • Researching and correcting errors and anomalies identified in various financial reports
  • Providing reviews of financial information for accuracy and compliance with standards
  • Managing the list of items to be provided during the annual audit and assisting with any corrective action plans

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or another business-related degree with a minimum of 24 credit hours in accounting
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and/or financial management
  • Experience in Federal Financial reporting and OMB A-136 circulars preferred but not required
  • Proficient in the use of the MS Office suite; specifically, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
