Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Associate or Full Professor to join our team in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology at Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. The successful candidate will have a strong research focus on infectious diseases of wildlife, with a particular emphasis on elk hoof disease.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a productive research program on elk hoof disease and other infectious diseases at the wildlife-livestock interface.
  • Maintain current and develop new collaborations with researchers, managers, and stakeholders.
  • Stay active in the department's graduate program, including mentoring graduate students and serving as a member of student advisory committees.
  • Supervise support staff, including scientific assistants and post-doctoral fellows.
  • Participate in service activities, including service to the profession, department, college, or university.
Requirements
  • PhD degree in biomedical science, natural resources, or related fields.
  • Evidence of an established research program, record of effective collaboration, and successful mentoring.
  • Demonstrated abilities in conducting hypothesis-based research and publishing high-quality papers in top journals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven track record in wildlife disease research and experience in outreach activities and communication with the public.
  • Communication skills and cross-cultural capabilities to maximize effective collaboration with a diverse community of campus and external colleagues and stakeholders.
  • History of contributions to high-quality graduate education.

The Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology is one of five departments/schools in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Our departmental mission is to enhance animal and public health through teaching, research, and service.
