The Orthopedic and Neurosurgery department is seeking a Full Time Clinical Nurse to join our dedicated team.


The Clinical Nurse provides patient-centered care with a focus on cultural competence, utilizing evidence-based practices to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and service while delivering care tailored to diverse patient populations.

The Clinical Nurse 2 supervises nursing staff and allied health professionals in their daily responsibilities.

  • Conducts assessments of assigned patients and evaluates care plans, ensuring thorough documentation of nursing interventions. Reports any symptoms and changes in patients' conditions and vital signs.
Adjusts treatment plans based on patient responses, conditions, and physician directives. Reviews and interprets diagnostic tests to evaluate patient status.

  • Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding assigned patients to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care strategies.
  • Prepares patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, providing necessary support.
Considers patient age and cultural background during care delivery and provides essential information regarding treatment plans.

  • Fosters a compassionate atmosphere by offering psychological support. Conducts relevant patient tests and safely administers medications within the scope of practice.
Maintains accurate records related to medications and treatments in accordance with regulatory standards, policies, and physician orders.

  • Communicates care plans promptly to patients and their families, as well as to relevant team members, ensuring adherence to all regulatory guidelines (i.e., HIPAA).
  • Implements best practices for patient care transitions. Utilizes available resources to assist in discharge planning. Plans, prioritizes, and adjusts assignments to achieve goals and deliver exceptional patient care; seeks assistance when necessary. Adapts to evolving work demands and environments.
  • Operates medical equipment safely. Acts as a mentor and assists new staff in providing care to help them acclimate to the healthcare setting and direct patient care roles.
  • Provides constructive feedback as needed. Complies with University and unit-level policies and procedures, safeguarding University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, with a Bachelor's degree (BSN) preferred. RNs with an Associate's (ASN) degree must complete the BSN within two years of hire.

Certification and Licensing:

  • Valid Florida Registered Nurse License, along with ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Understanding of nursing care methodologies and procedures
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety protocols (i.e., sanitation, decontamination, etc.)
  • Excellent patient experience skills
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve various issues.
  • Capacity to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication
