Revenue Compliance Auditor

This role is responsible for conducting operational, functional, and compliance audits within the revenue sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and execute compliance audits related to revenue to ensure accurate reporting and collection of all necessary license fees and taxes.
- Conduct interviews with taxpayers and their representatives to communicate audit findings and requirements.
- Deliver presentations on audit-related topics.
- Collect taxes owed as a result of audits.
- Perform on-site visits during compliance audits.
- Assist taxpayers in preparing and completing various forms, applications, and tax returns.
- Clarify and explain complex licensing matters to office personnel.
- Address taxpayer inquiries regarding concerns related to the Occupation Tax Section.
- Maintain records and schedules to ensure timely audits of businesses.
- Support office staff in processing and issuing licenses, as well as in the preparation and review of tax returns during renewal periods.
- Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws governing business licensing and taxation.
- Proficiency in research methods, statistical analysis, and report generation.
- Experience with financial software applications.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to gather and analyze complex data.
- Competence in operating standard office equipment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Financial Planning, or a related field is required.
- Relevant experience that demonstrates understanding of the fundamental principles related to the primary duties of this position, typically gained through an internship or similar role for one to two years.
Physical Requirements:
- The work is generally performed while seated at a desk or table. The employee may occasionally need to lift light objects.
