KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the Corporate Controller in managing the Finance and Accounting Department's functions. This position requires close collaboration with the Corporate Controller to develop month-end standard operating procedures and to oversee the work of Staff Accountants, including their training and development. A comprehensive understanding of all business operations within Continental Floral is essential, enabling the Senior Accountant to assist various branches with their financial and accounting needs as necessary. The primary focus will be on division-level accounting activities and the month-end financial statement closing process.

Key tasks include:

  • Monthly reconciliation of inter-company accounts and management of intercompany accounts payable and receivable.
  • Assisting the Corporate Controller with cash flow management related to accounts payable, including advising on inter-company payment schedules.
  • Preparing and reviewing schedules to support financial transactions and ledger balances.
  • Actively participating in the month-end closing process, including accruals, trial balance reviews, and necessary journal entries.
  • Providing accounting guidance based on research and the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); developing accounting procedures by analyzing existing processes and recommending improvements.
  • Supporting the Controller with daily operations and additional projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Preferred experience in agricultural, manufacturing, or public accounting.

COMPENSATION

Compensation is competitive and reflects the labor market across various U.S. regions. Pay is determined by factors such as market location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The target salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $85,000 annually.
