Position Overview

Role Objective:

The Aquatics Lead plays a crucial role in supporting the Aquatics Manager by overseeing all aquatic-related activities. This includes managing swim instruction, ensuring facility safety, and supervising personnel. The individual in this position is accountable for upholding Family Wellness regulations, policies, and safety protocols for all members, guests, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises daily aquatic operations and staff to maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and achievement of departmental goals.
  • Oversees swimming lesson sessions, engages with parents, and monitors all personnel.
  • Evaluates instructor performance and provides constructive feedback as needed.
  • Ensures adequate coverage for all aquatic activities to maintain operational continuity.
  • Assists the Aquatics Manager with recruitment, performance reviews, certifications, staff training, and lifeguard skill assessments.
  • Serves as a lifeguard when required, primarily during daytime and early afternoon shifts.
  • Acts as a substitute instructor for swimming lessons when necessary.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of aquatic department policies and Family Wellness procedures.
  • Handles administrative tasks related to swimming lessons and other aquatic programs.
  • Ensures lifeguards fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, & Skills:

A minimum of two years of combined experience as a lifeguard, swim instructor, or working with children is required.

A competitive swimming background is preferred.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

Must possess American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid upon hire.

Training for Family Wellness swimming lesson instruction will be provided upon hire, including both classroom and practical in-water instruction alongside experienced instructors.

Preferred certifications include American Red Cross Instructor credentials in Lifeguarding and First Aid/CPR/AED.
