As an Instructional Aide, your role will involve providing tailored supervision and instruction to designated students while offering additional support to the primary classroom staff. You will work closely with students to implement their Individualized Education Programs (IEP), utilizing both group and individual instruction in various settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in enhancing their community, vocational, leisure, domestic, academic, and social skills.
  • Implement curriculum and behavioral intervention strategies aligned with the IEP/ITP (Individual Transition Plan)/PBIP (Positive Behavior Intervention Plan) to achieve each student's goals.
  • Instruct and monitor students during lessons to ensure adherence to instructional fidelity.
  • Encourage and track the progress of individual students according to specific timelines, communicating with the classroom teacher regarding overall development and necessary interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student behavior as per school protocols, reporting observations to relevant staff and making recommendations based on these observations.
  • Assist in preparing behavioral reports and daily activity logs as required.
  • Uphold confidentiality of student information and records at all times.
  • Participate in school meetings, student/parent conferences, and individual student advisory meetings as needed.
  • Respond constructively to both formal and informal feedback.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with successful completion of a basic skills assessment.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
  • Active paraprofessional, paraeducator, teaching assistant, and/or PPS certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children in an educational program setting is essential.
  • Experience in a special education program setting is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with severe emotional and/or behavioral disorders is preferred.
  • Ability to think and act swiftly and calmly in emergency situations and make independent decisions.
  • Strong motivational skills and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
