Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Monitor Technician to join our team at Owensboro Health. As a Cardiac Monitor Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms for patients in various care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and communicate changes in cardiac rhythm to healthcare team members.
  • Interpret and document rhythm, heart rate, and appropriate measurements in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Identify and respond to clinically significant cardiac rhythms or rate disturbances.
  • Determine, review, and revise alarm settings for each patient based on physician orders and/or telemetry protocols and policies.
  • Recognize and correct artifacts in tracings and notify the healthcare team.
  • Attach electrode leads to proper body areas and prepare skin and surroundings for valid results.
  • Obtain and document EKG readings as directed.
  • Program, monitor, and register patients on-line depending on the ordered monitor.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and report any abnormal findings.
  • Process EKGs in the EKG software and the EMR.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • No experience required.
  • BLS certification as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider within 90 days of employment.
