Job Summary

U Mass Memorial Health is seeking an experienced Release Of Information Associate to join our team in Central Massachusetts. This role is responsible for coordinating the release of patient information, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones, arrange scheduling, and take messages.
• Coordinate chart function, prepare charts, and ensure necessary documents are available.
• Communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses or obtain additional information.
• Provide charts/documents requested for use in legal actions, following patient consent/confidentiality protocols.
• Utilize computer programs to tabulate and analyze data.
• Review and prepare documents for scanning into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Scan documents into batches in the scanning module and sort them into appropriate folders in the patient's EHR.
• Accurately release patient health information upon receipt of signed authorization from the patient/legal guardian in a timely manner.
• Maintain paper charts alphabetically.
• Maintain knowledge of current OSHA and CLIA regulations, and U Mass Memorial Health policies.

Requirements

• High school completion or GED.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Preferably, some medical records experience in a healthcare setting.

Work Environment

This role requires standing, walking, sitting, talking, and using hands to finger, handle, or feel for extended periods. It also involves pushing/pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and reaching with hands and arms. The job requires lifting or exerting force up to 10 pounds and up to 25 pounds. It also involves exposure to infectious diseases, physical/verbal abusiveness, and rotating shifts.
