The City of Worcester, MA is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Bookmobile Operator and Library Assistant to join our team. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to serve the community by providing access to library resources and information.

About the Job

As a Bookmobile Operator and Library Assistant, you will be responsible for driving the mobile library services to various locations, performing circulation activities, and providing exceptional customer service to patrons. You will work closely with the Main Library Circulation Department and C/W MARS to ensure seamless operations and collaborate with other library staff to develop and implement outreach programs and events.

Responsibilities

* Drive the bookmobile to assigned locations, ensuring timely delivery of library materials and services* Perform circulation activities, such as checking out and returning materials, and answering patron inquiries* Provide exceptional customer service to patrons, responding to their needs and resolving any issues that may arise* Work closely with the Main Library Circulation Department and C/W MARS to ensure seamless operations* Collaborate with other library staff to develop and implement outreach programs and events* Develop and maintain relationships with local community organizations and stakeholders* Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in library services*

Requirements

* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in library science preferred* One year of experience working in a public library setting, preferably in a circulation or outreach role* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation* Ability to safely operate the bookmobile and navigate through various road conditions* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people* Ability to lift 25 pounds and push/pull carts filled with books and other materials

Benefits

The City of Worcester, MA offers a competitive salary range of $23.21 - $28.09 per hour, commensurate with experience. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
