Project Accountant

Cooper Carry, Inc is seeking a skilled Project Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing project finances, including invoicing and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:- Review project contracts, proposals, and change orders to ensure accurate setup in the ERP system.
- Prepare and submit client invoices, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and billing schedules.
- Monitor project accounts receivable aging reports and assist in resolving payment issues in a timely manner.
- Reconcile project-related accounts, including project plans, expenses, revenue, and project management fees, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Prepare project financial reports, including project cost reports, variance analysis, and profitability analysis, and provide insights and recommendations to project teams and senior management.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting as needed, and support financial audits as needed.
- Coordinate with project managers, procurement staff, and vendors to track project expenses, purchases, and subcontractor payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project budgets and contracts.
- Support project teams and stakeholders with financial analysis, reporting, and ad-hoc requests as needed, contributing to the overall success and profitability of architectural projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
- Strong understanding of project accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Deltek experience is required.
- Strong proficiency in all aspects of the Deltek VantagePoint Billing module, including multiple billing formats and client-specific billing requirements and pay applications.
- In-depth knowledge of project cost accounting.
- Ability to read and understand contracts/proposals for accurate project setup.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices is a plus.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
