Job Overview

M&S Engineering, LLC is in search of a skilled and forward-thinking Senior Project Manager. This role encompasses the oversight of project planning and monitoring related to the scoping, cost assessments, design, procurement, and construction of high voltage electrical power systems, focusing on distribution lines, transmission lines, and substations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial, scheduling, safety, quality, and successful completion of project scoping, design, and construction phases.
  • Determine necessary skills for project teams and assemble qualified personnel. Responsible for defining the scope of effort required for managing specific projects, adapting processes to align with project complexity. Utilize the Capital Projects Process to create a detailed project scope for capital initiatives.
  • Develop project timelines, while monitoring and controlling costs and schedules to adhere to budgets and critical deadlines.
  • Organize and lead management review meetings at key project milestones. Maintain up-to-date project status information across all relevant client databases and communication channels.
  • Address project conflicts impacting cost, schedule, or client satisfaction, and formulate effective action and recovery strategies. Ensure adherence to internal or client processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage a portfolio of capital projects and associated teams, ensuring effective coordination and communication among all project resources, both internal and external.
  • Report resource status to functional managers and collaboratively develop contingency strategies. Ensure timely project closeout, including all necessary documentation, and provide performance feedback to functional management regarding team members.
  • Resolve conflicts and delays among groups as necessary to achieve project completion objectives.
  • Be prepared for occasional travel as required by project demands.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Experience Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related discipline is essential.
  • 4-9 years of experience in the design, construction, or operations of distribution lines, transmission lines, and/or substations is required.
  • 4-9 years of experience in budget management and team supervision is highly preferred.
  • PMP certification is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 scheduling software is preferred.
  • Prior experience in engineering and construction projects is advantageous.
  • Experience in power distribution, survey/staking, or right-of-way management is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information to a diverse audience including administrators, engineers, and senior management.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of financial aspects related to project control.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Teams, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to work occasional overtime to fulfill critical project tasks.
