Transportation Operations Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Manager to join our team at gategroup. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining production standards to meet customer requirements, ensuring quality and customer service is maintained at the highest level on a daily basis.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordinate services between the kitchen and drivers, controlling activities on the receiving dock
  • Create assignments for team drivers and flights, ensuring timely and efficient operations
  • Monitor dock area to ensure employees have all required equipment and that trucks leave according to schedule
  • Develop labor forecasts to optimize resource allocation
  • Ensure all teams are catering correct aircraft and flights, maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency
  • Enforce safety procedures and protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees
  • Assist teams with late flights and equipment changes, providing support and guidance as needed
  • Maintain radio contact with superintendent, meal planner, and leads during operation
Requirements
  • High School degree or GED required; some college preferred
  • 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience, with a focus on scheduling and forecasting labor
  • In-flight catering experience or experience in a high-volume food service industry highly desirable
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing a staff of 20-30
  • Current or previous labor relations experience a plus
Technical Skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks without losing priority
  • Basic computer skills required, with proficiency in relevant software and systems
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and leadership skills
  • Valid Driver's License
Language / Communication Skills
  • Bi-lingual a plus

Work Environment / Requirements of the Job
  • Regularly stands, walks, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts of 10+ hours
  • In a normal production kitchen facility, there may be physical discomfort due to temperature and noise
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or maneuver 50-75 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors 75-80% of the time
  • Ability to work at heights at or above 50 feet
