Role Responsibilities:

We are seeking a seasoned graphic designer to lead our communications strategy for the Veterans Affairs Office of Community Care (VA OCC). This role will focus on non-instructional design projects, including multimedia content, outreach materials, and presentation design. You will ensure design consistency, mentor junior designers, and collaborate with diverse teams to deliver high-quality results.

  • Oversee creative direction for VA OCC initiatives, maintaining brand integrity and excellence.
  • Generate innovative concepts that inspire action and elevate significant causes.
  • Translate research and insights into empathetic and impactful design solutions.
  • Enhance your technical creative skills and design thinking to foster effective user experiences and branding.
  • Partner with digital marketing colleagues to create compelling online campaigns.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to manage project timelines and resources effectively.
  • Guide and mentor junior designers, offering constructive feedback and design leadership.
  • Collaborate with instructional design teams to ensure alignment and streamline processes.
  • Prepare production files for both digital and print formats.
  • Utilize active listening to integrate feedback and manage design revisions.
  • Work alongside social media, video, web, and marketing teams to develop cohesive strategies.
  • Engage with colleagues to identify trends and opportunities for creative enhancement.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in graphic design, particularly in branding and digital marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce quick-turnaround animations for digital advertising.
  • A diverse portfolio showcasing expertise in typography, layout, and thematic development.
  • Experience in managing multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, Acrobat).
  • A passion for keeping abreast of the latest trends and best practices in design.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, initiative, and a positive attitude.
  • Strong quality control abilities with a focus on innovative ideas.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearance.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
  • Additional skills in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, video editing, animation, and Section 508 compliance are a plus.
