Neurology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Key Position Details- This position combines inpatient rounding and outpatient clinic responsibilities.
- Average 6 to 8 patients per day in clinic.
- Typically 0 to 4 inpatients.
- Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm schedule with some flexibility.
- Call required, unrestricted from home.
As a Neurology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, you will provide comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations as part of a physician/nurse team. You will work in both inpatient and outpatient settings, performing independently or as part of a treatment team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides clinical care for patients.
- Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
- Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
- Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
- Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy, and medical equipment.
- Conducts patient education for managing chronic illness or wellness care.
- Refers for specialty care when necessary.
- Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis, or treatment plan is unclear.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
- Acts as a resource to members of the team.
- Works with primary care team for program development.
- Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
- Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree - Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant Program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- New grads may be considered.
- Neurology experience preferred but not required.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire (NP requirement only).
- Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty required upon hire (NP requirement only).
- Minnesota Physician Assistant license (PA requirement only).
- ACLS-BLS Tier - Multisource required within 180 Days.
- Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire.
Physical Demands:
Medium Work: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently.
