Family Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at the Hennepin County Public Health Clinic. This is a full-time, benefit-earning position that offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our patients and communities.
Job Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive HIV prevention and sexual health care services, including HIV testing, STI testing and treatment, family planning, PrEP, and PEP.
- Provide medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) through office-based buprenorphine therapy, conducting initial assessments and follow-up evaluations.
- Conduct refugee health screening exams, including health history, physical examination, and preventive screening of newly arrived refugees to identify acute and chronic health problems as well as public health risks.
- Evaluate and treat patients with active and latent tuberculosis, including medication management.
- Perform lab work as indicated, including gram stains, wet preps, and other labs in a CLIA-certified on-site lab under the direction of a lab technician specialist.
- Provide health education, harm reduction counseling, consultation, and referrals based on patient needs.
- Work with a diverse, interdisciplinary team to deliver health services, develop team goals, performance outcomes, and effective referral coordination.
- For hire as a Nurse Practitioner: Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the State of Minnesota and National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (CNP), or Possession of a valid license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) issued by the State of Minnesota and National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
- For hire as a Physician Assistant: Graduation from an accredited physician assistant (PA) program and Certification or eligibility for certification from the State of Minnesota as a Physician Assistant.
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration to prescribe controlled substances.
- Experience providing sexual health care services, including family planning services and sexually transmitted infection testing, treatment, and prevention.
- Experience providing addiction medicine, specifically with buprenorphine.
- Experience providing care to refugee and/or immigrant populations.
- Ability to foster an environment that recognizes and respects cultural, behavioral, and socioeconomic differences.
- Ability to exhibit sensitivity to the needs and issues of diverse and disenfranchised individuals.
