Position Overview:

The Building Attendant is tasked with the cleaning, sanitation, and overall maintenance of the facilities and surrounding grounds. This role includes primary responsibilities for the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for various programs and events.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.

  • Capability to see projects through from initiation to completion.

Professional Expectations:

Ability to work within a distinctly Christian environment and interact positively with colleagues and the public, aligning with The Salvation Army's mission. Must demonstrate self-discipline and the ability to perform repetitive tasks without compromising quality. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.

Equipment Utilized:

  • Cleaning machines, general sanitation tools, custodial supplies, and hand tools.
  • Cleaning agents for various surfaces including wood, tile, glass, and metal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting throughout the facility.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in areas such as restrooms, kitchens, and fitness areas.
  • Set up and dismantle furniture and equipment for different programs and events.
  • Regularly dispose of trash and recyclables.
  • Perform high-level cleaning in public spaces including lobbies and entryways.
  • Clean and maintain outdoor areas including sidewalks and landscaping.
  • Carry out minor maintenance and repairs to building systems and grounds.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and materials.
  • Operate and understand building systems such as lighting and HVAC.
  • Ensure the overall appearance and functionality of the facilities.
  • Exhibit integrity and reliability in all tasks.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, communicate effectively, and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Working Environment:

Work hours may vary, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Exposure to various weather conditions is expected.

Miscellaneous:

Education and Experience:

  1. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Experience: At least 1 year of custodial and minor maintenance experience preferred.
