POSITION TITLE: Facility Maintenance Attendant

STATUS TYPE: RFT

MISSION

The Salvation Army Wonderland Camp and Conference Center is dedicated to enhancing the ministry of the Salvation Army by offering opportunities for individuals to experience spiritual growth through focused programs in a safe and natural camp environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver exceptional service to guests by ensuring that the Dining, Kitchen, Meeting, and Housing facilities are maintained in a clean, orderly, and welcoming condition. Address any maintenance issues promptly or report them to the supervisor. Ensure that the facilities remain free of debris and are properly maintained regardless of weather conditions.

PRIMARY DUTIES INCLUDE

  1. Regular cleaning of all areas within the Dining Hall, including three dining rooms, kitchen, restrooms, and storage areas.
  2. Maintain an inventory checklist for supplies and communicate needs to the supervisor.
  3. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor as they arise, prioritizing urgent issues.
  4. Set up meeting spaces according to guest requirements, including arranging tables, chairs, and audio-visual equipment.
  5. Maintain cleanliness in meeting areas throughout guest stays.
  6. Clean restrooms in all meeting spaces as required.
  7. Manage waste disposal from meeting areas efficiently.
  8. Transport and deliver linens for the housekeeping department as necessary.
  9. Assist with moving beds and other furniture as needed.
  10. Perform minor maintenance tasks and assist with painting projects.
  11. Open and close facilities for group events.
  12. Complete any additional tasks as assigned.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This role reports directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor and acts as a representative of the Salvation Army and its mission in all related duties.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Success in this position will be measured by the effectiveness in achieving the outlined responsibilities, as well as the timeliness, accuracy, and thoroughness of completing assigned tasks. The quality of service provided to guests will also be a key evaluation metric.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age requirement of 19.
  • Availability for on-call duties.
  • Ability to lift and carry weights exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Experience working with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in cleaning and maintenance, preferably in a camp setting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others and undertake a variety of tasks.
  • Willingness to accept direction and responsibility for assigned duties.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various work schedules and tasks as needed.
  • Knowledge of safe practices for handling cleaning chemicals and maintenance tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Commitment to high-quality work standards.

POSITION LIMITATIONS

  • This individual will only utilize resources that have been allocated or approved by the organization.
  • Maintain communication with the Housekeeping Supervisor regarding any critical issues within the scope of responsibilities.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures while fulfilling job responsibilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position requires physical activity and demands good physical and mental health.
  • Regular tasks include setting up meeting rooms, moving furniture, operating audio-visual equipment, and using cleaning chemicals and maintenance tools.
  • Ability to lift and/or move items weighing over 50 lbs is necessary.
  • The work environment is primarily outdoors, with varying noise levels.
