POSITION TITLE: Facility Maintenance Attendant

LOCATION/DEPT: Wonderland Camp and Conference Center

REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Supervisor

MISSION STATEMENT

The Salvation Army Wonderland Camp and Conference Center is dedicated to supporting the mission of the Salvation Army by offering individuals the chance to encounter Christ through targeted programs in a secure, natural camp conference setting.

KEY OUTCOMES

Deliver exceptional service to guests by ensuring that the Dining, Kitchen, Meeting, and Accommodation facilities are kept clean, organized, and presentable. Any necessary repairs will be addressed promptly or reported to the supervisor. The facilities will be maintained free of litter and kept in optimal condition regardless of weather conditions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform scheduled cleaning of all areas within the Dining Hall, including three dining rooms, kitchen, restrooms, and storage areas.
  2. Maintain an inventory checklist for supplies and inform the supervisor of any needs.
  3. Alert the supervisor regarding items requiring repair or maintenance as needed, prioritizing emergencies.
  4. Set up meeting spaces according to guest requirements, including arranging tables, chairs, and audiovisual equipment.
  5. Ensure cleanliness of meeting areas and maintain them throughout guest occupancy.
  6. Clean restrooms in all meeting spaces as required.
  7. Collect and dispose of all waste from meeting areas.
  8. Transport and deliver linens for the housekeeping department as necessary.
  9. Assist in moving beds when required.
  10. Perform minor maintenance tasks and assist with painting duties.
  11. Open facilities for group use.
  12. Secure facilities after group events.
  13. Carry out any additional duties as assigned.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This position reports directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor. In all duties related to this position, the individual represents the Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

The effectiveness of this role will be assessed based on the achievement of the outlined outcomes, along with the timeliness, accuracy, and thoroughness of assigned tasks. The quality of service provided to guests will also be a key evaluation criterion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age requirement of 19 years.
  • Availability for on-call duties is necessary.
  • Ability to lift and carry weights exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Experience working with cleaning chemicals and equipment is essential.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Prior experience in cleaning and maintenance, preferably in a camp environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others and undertake a variety of tasks.
  • Willingness to accept guidance and responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various work requirements and schedules.
  • Knowledge of safe practices for handling cleaning chemicals and maintenance tools.
  • Capability to maintain an organized and clean workspace, with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates pride in their work.
  • Alignment with the goals and objectives of Wonderland Camp and Conference Center.
  • Supportive of the mission of The Salvation Army.

POSITION LIMITATIONS

  • This individual will only utilize Army resources that have been authorized or allocated.
  • Maintain communication with the Housekeeping Supervisor regarding all critical issues related to responsibilities.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures while fulfilling the responsibilities of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This role requires physical labor and necessitates good physical and mental health.
  • To effectively perform essential functions, the employee must regularly set up meeting rooms, move furniture, operate audiovisual equipment, and handle cleaning chemicals and maintenance tools.
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing over 50 lbs.
  • The work environment includes a camp setting with varying noise levels.
