Custodial Services Manager

Job Summary

Spokane Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Custodian to provide custodial services throughout the district facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing site custodial staff, ensuring a safe and sanitized environment for students, staff, and patrons.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules and regulations, and maintain a clean and sanitized site.
  • Perform duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors, moving furniture and equipment, dusting, and cleaning health areas.
  • Oversee maintenance of sidewalks and blacktop areas, including watering lawn, weeding garden beds, and clearing snow.
  • Ensure adequate building and custodial supplies and equipment, and submit orders as necessary.
  • Monitor building site events schedule, coordinate and perform work orders, and setup and support.
  • Care and maintain equipment and building operating systems, and communicate and coordinate building maintenance work orders with maintenance department and building office.
  • Monitor and schedule an effective cleaning program for summer and school year.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, climb ladders, and perform various types of labor in eight-hour shift.
  • Low Pressure Boiler license required.
  • Proven ability to read, write, and comprehend operational instructions and write applicable reports.
  • Available for contact in the event of an emergency, and ability to work after hours as requested.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and chemicals safety and disposal procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, familiarity with scheduling and work order system.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and confidentially with a diverse group of staff and students.
  • First Aid Card required.

Working Conditions

The Head Custodian will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interactions with staff, students, and patrons. The position requires the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
