Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider is a highly skilled healthcare professional responsible for delivering high-quality patient care to critically ill or injured children. This individual will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, including clinical practice, consultation, education, and research.

The Advanced Practice Provider will assess patients for complex acute, critical, and chronic conditions, utilizing relevant data to formulate a plan of care. They will perform therapeutic interventions to stabilize patients, analyze indications, contraindications, and risk of complications, and manage the plan of care through evaluation, modification, and documentation.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients for urgent and emergent conditions, using relevant data to evaluate for physiologic instability.
  • Perform therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute and critical health problems, as outlined in the Scope of Practice Document.
  • Analyze indications, contraindications, and risk of complications for therapeutic interventions.
  • Manage the plan of care through evaluation, modification, and documentation, with a focus on optimizing patient outcomes.
  • Incorporate health promotion, health protection, and injury prevention measures into the plan of care.
  • Facilitate patient transitions between and within healthcare settings.
  • Serve as an educational resource to patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members.
  • Participate in scholarly activities and professional development, maintaining required competencies and identifying learning needs.
Requirements:
  • DNP, MSN, or Post-Graduate Certificate with specialization as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner.
  • Graduate of master's or doctoral level physician assistant program.
  • At least 1 year of nursing or medical experience, with experience in the subspecialty area preferred.
  • Eligibility to practice as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant, as determined by the Alabama Board of Nursing or Alabama Board of Medicine.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Alabama for nurse practitioners.
  • Current BLS/PALS certification.
  • Valid Acute Care PNP certification from PNCB or certification as PA-C from NCCPA.
