Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider is a highly skilled healthcare professional responsible for delivering complex care to critically ill or injured children. This individual will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care, including clinical practice, consultation, education, and scholarship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic illnesses, identifying urgent and emergent conditions.
  • Develop and implement plans of care, utilizing relevant data to inform decision-making and optimize patient outcomes.
  • Perform therapeutic interventions, including invasive procedures, to promote physiologic stability and manage acute and critical health problems.
  • Manage patient transitions between and within healthcare settings, ensuring seamless care coordination.
  • Serve as an educational resource to patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals, promoting health promotion, health protection, and injury prevention measures.
  • Participate in scholarly activities, professional development, and precepting/mentoring to support the growth and development of others.
Requirements
  • DNP, MSN, or Post-Graduate Certificate with specialization as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner.
  • Graduate of master's or doctoral level physician assistant program.
  • At least 1 year of nursing or medical experience, with experience in the subspecialty area preferred.
  • Eligibility to practice as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the State of Alabama.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Alabama for nurse practitioners.
  • Current BLS/PALS certification.
  • Valid Acute Care PNP certification from PNCB or certification as PA-C from NCCPA.
