Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Retail Event Coordinator to join our team at Michaels Stores. As a Retail Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating events within our stores to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
  • Adjust plans and events based on client's feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold the company's cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
Requirements
  • Excellent people skills and ability to interact effectively with guests of all ages and co-workers.
  • Experience working with children and children's events.
  • Good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
  • Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Work Environment

The Retail Event Coordinator will work in a fast-paced retail environment, with regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching. Ability to remain standing for long periods of time and move throughout the store. Some stock rooms may not be climate controlled, and some outdoor work may be assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks.
