Early Head Start Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Head Start Teacher to join our team at The Y of Central Maryland. As a key member of our Early Childhood Education department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to infants and toddlers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage an Early Head Start classroom, ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of children enrolled in the class.
  • Supervise children at all times, adjusting for a range of ages and abilities.
  • Promote feelings of security and trust in infants/toddlers by being warm, supportive, and comforting.
  • Develop and implement individualized daily lesson plans that meet Infant/Toddler Curriculum Developmental Continuum assessments and Head Start School Readiness Outcomes.
  • Conduct individual observations, assessments, and developmentally appropriate activities to measure growth and development.
  • Communicate with parents and classroom staff, ensuring a collaborative approach to education and care.
  • Plan and manage classroom structure, including schedule, routines, and transitions.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity, cultural respect, acceptance, and patience in all interactions.
Requirements:
  • Valid criminal background check and pre-employment physical, including TB test.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Infant/Toddler CDA or equivalent approved Early Childhood coursework and 3 semesters of approved infant/toddler coursework.
  • One year of supervised early childhood experience, with two years preferred.
  • Possess Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificate or obtain within 90 days of employment.
